Order a book of poetry and change lives

Clive’s poems come from a place that is full of adventure, of love for humanity, and the appreciation of moments to reflect on the journey. You can buy a book, and £5 will go towards education in Malawi.

Only 8% of children complete secondary school in Malawi.  Primary school is free, but for secondary school you need fees, uniforms, books. With £300 we can sponsor and give learning support to a young person in Secondary School for a year. For the brightest students we raise funds for university. To see previously disadvantaged young Malawians become teachers and nurses is a life change worth supporting!

These books are a collection of poetry by Harrogate resident Clive Wilson, who has had several adventures in Malawi himself. As a writer, speaker and leadership coach, he often inspires people towards “consciously creating conditions for a better future”.

"Dzukani and other poems" was written by Clive Wilson and comprises selected poems from a lifetime of writing. Clive's poems are written from the soul with an abundance of optimism and hope with which to navigate life's journey.

"Zikomo - poetry (mainly) from lockdown" is a collection of poems written by Clive Wilson between 2020 and 2022. This was a strange period peppered by frequent lockdowns and other restrictions. It caused many of us to reflect. The poems are however timeless and mainly optimistic. They provide colourful metaphor to help us navigate our world at any time.

Jackson tells us about his education

July 13, 2022

Thanks to sponsorship via Care in Action Malawi, Jackson has been able to continue his education at the University of Livingstonia in Malawi. Jackson says “this will shape my family and myself”. He explains that his education is not just for now, he is Malawi's future.

We are delighted that Jackson has passed his exams for his second year of a Bachelor of Food Security and Nutrition with our support. A second-hand laptop which we sent from the UK arrived just in time to help him prepare the spreadsheets and use the software needed for his assessments.

Jackson completed his schooling at Chimbota Secondary School on the shore of Lake Malawi, near Nkhata Bay. This community school was built because the nearest government school was two hours walk away. Chimbota Secondary School had funded Jackson’s first year but simply did not have the funds to continue. Working in partnership, Care in Action Malawi can help Jackson and other deserving students to get into university.
